HLX Performance – BMW Specialist Workshop
Tyres are one of the most important safety and performance components on your vehicle. They affect braking, steering, grip, ride quality and stability.
At HLX Performance, we offer professional tyre supply, fitting and balancing using modern equipment, with clear advice to help you choose the correct tyre for your car, budget and driving style.
Modern Tyre Fitting & Balancing
We use professional tyre fitting and balancing equipment suitable for daily vehicles, performance wheels, low-profile tyres and larger alloy wheel setups.
- Safe fitting for low-profile and performance tyres
- Accurate dynamic wheel balancing
- Care taken with alloy wheels and finishes
- Correct torque settings on refit
Correct balancing helps prevent steering vibration, uneven tyre wear and unnecessary suspension wear.
Tyres to Suit Every Use Case
Different vehicles and driving styles require different tyres. We can advise on options for daily driving, fast-road use, performance vehicles and track-focused setups.
Budget Tyres
A cost-effective option for everyday driving and lower annual mileage vehicles.
- Affordable daily-use option
- Suitable for gentle driving styles
- Compliant with UK safety standards
Budget tyres meet legal requirements, but usually offer less grip and longer stopping distances than premium options.
Mid-Range Tyres
A balanced option for drivers wanting improved performance and safety without moving into premium-brand pricing.
- Improved wet and dry grip
- Better braking performance than budget tyres
- Good all-round choice for most drivers
Premium Performance Tyres
Premium tyres from leading manufacturers offer strong grip, stability and wet-weather performance.
- Shorter braking distances
- Better steering response
- Ideal for premium and performance vehicles
Track-Focused & Semi-Slick Tyres
Designed for maximum grip and consistency under high temperatures. Suitable for track days and performance builds.
- High dry grip
- Consistent track performance
- Requires suitable alignment and setup
We can advise on road legality, suitability and supporting setup requirements.
Full Track Slicks
Track slicks provide maximum dry grip for circuit use only. They require correct setup, temperature management and are not road legal.
- Maximum dry grip
- Track-only application
- Suitable for advanced track or competition use
When Tyres Need Replacing
Driving on worn or damaged tyres reduces grip, increases stopping distances and raises the risk of tyre failure. We will always highlight any safety concerns during fitting or inspection.
Low Tread Depth
The UK legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, but wet-weather grip reduces significantly before this point.
For safety, we usually recommend replacing tyres before they reach the legal minimum, especially on performance vehicles.
Cuts, Cracks & Sidewall Damage
Sidewall damage can weaken the tyre structure and cannot normally be repaired. Damaged tyres should be inspected and replaced where required.
Bulges & Deformities
A bulge usually indicates internal tyre damage, commonly caused by pothole or kerb impact. This is a serious safety issue.
Exposed Cords
Visible internal cords mean the tyre has failed structurally and is unsafe to drive on.
Tyres & Vehicle Performance
The right tyre choice can transform how a vehicle feels. Grip level, sidewall stiffness and compound all affect braking performance, steering response and ride comfort.
- Daily driving and commuting
- Fast-road and spirited use
- Performance vehicles
- Track days and specialist setups
Whether you need replacement tyres, advice on performance options or a safety inspection, HLX Performance can help you choose the correct tyre and fit it properly.
